New event announced… FESTIVE FAYRE

As the days become colder and the nights start drawing in, I have had an immense urge to coorie doon and create something new and cosy to get through the winter nights… and help tackle that Christmas shopping list!

In a recent post on social media, I discussed the idea of an autumn market. Missing the feeling of the Conscious Markets I used to create, I yearned for something similar, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything that hit the spot for me the way my markets have done in previous years. So, despite me saying I wouldn’t be organising any events again, 3 months later, you guessed it, I am organising an event!

On Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of December, I will host a Festive Fayre in the old Sawmill at Milton of Crathes near Banchory, Aberdeenshire. After meeting so many fantastic businesses through my new directories, I wanted to showcase some of their beautiful creations in a way that is more tangible than just on paper… or on a screen as it is. This time around, my mini-market will highlight handcrafted goods made from natural sources using traditional methods.

Taking inspiration from the Scottish winter landscape, old bothies and hand-crafted items, I want to show what it means to create the most wonderful items from the natural world around us. Our small businesses will be there to talk about how they use traditional skills such as foraging, felting, silversmithing, beekeeping, soap making, weaving, and more to create their products and discuss how important it is to them that we continue to keep these traditions alive.

Whilst this new event is a step away from my usual Conscious Markets, which had a wellness theme, trust that the same care and attention has been given to this new venture, especially as it feels more in line with me and my business as it now stands as Slow Living Scotland.

Another thing you might notice about the event now it has been launched is my beautiful new branding, which was created for me by my incredibly talented friend, Autumn of Seven Chaga. She has gone above and beyond what I asked for, and I can’t thank her enough for all her help. I hope I can keep up her standards and not butcher it along the way! Autumn is available for other design work and can be contacted via her Seven Chaga Instagram and Facebook pages.

So, save the dates, 7th and 8th December, and look out for all the other wee updates and features I have planned in the lead-up to the event. I’ll also be there on the day to greet you with a complimentary winter tea and free entry for all!

Looking forward to seeing you inside our cosy bothy market soon!
