10 Must Visit Festive Markets in 2024!

It’s that time of year again when everybody and anybody is hosting a Christmas market! ✨

Of course, we can’t attend them all, so I’ve saved you some time and whittled the list down to my top 10 festive markets I recommend you visit this year.

Every Friday Until Christmas | INDIE FRIDAYS at Dell of Abernethy

📍 Abernethy, Highlands

The Dell are very excited to bring back Indie Fridays, where they celebrate independent  businesses and crafters on the run up to Christmas. 

The Dell Grocer will be open as usual on a Friday until the slightly later time of 7pm, with an array of gorgeous gifts and decorations.  Why not pick yourself up a custom made hamper, grab a glass of mulled cider and some of our tasty samples and just soak up the festive feels. 

They’ll also have gift vouchers available to purchase, another great idea for a Christmas present! 

 
 

22nd - 24th November | Whitekirk Hill Christmas Fair with Exclusively Highlands

📍 North Berwick, East Lothian

Whitekirk Hill is a breath-taking countryside retreat near Edinburgh. With superb access for all, the ground floor of Whitekirk Hill will be transformed into a beautiful Christmas market with a superb range of Scottish products.

For the foodies amongst us we have a range of sublime venison, sausages, pies and ready to cook meals, a fine collection of unusual and locally produced honey. Damn Fine Cheese with a host of deliciously flavoured cheeses, exquisite cakes and bakes will be coming from Rabbit Hole Cakes. We have a mouth watering array of fudge, tablet and confectionery and chutneys and preserves to tempt all palates..

Our alcohol producers include a selection of gins, rum, liqueurs and spiced rum and not forgetting for a different Christmas treat non-alcoholic Eggnog from By Julia.

Our artisans will be exhibiting a host of organic & vegan soap & skincare, beautiful homeware ranges featuring textiles, art illustrations, exquisite stationery, art prints, decadent cushions and throws. Wood work, metal work, ceramics, tweed gifts and giftware. Jewellery designed using silver, gemstones and glass, stained glass and recycled homewares, candles, reed diffusers and wax melts and bee products – all lovingly handmade for the event.

Whitekirk Hill’s Orangery, a bright and airy space which serves the most delicious brunches and lunches and refreshments.

 

28th November | Christmas Market at Marshalls Farmshop

📍 Kintore, Aberdeenshire

Tickets are available NOW for Marshall’s aunnual festive market!

Jingle your way around their hand-picked local and Scottish suppliers with all things festive, everything from seasonal products, decorations and gifts.

Enjoy some tasty homemade treats and mulled wine whilst listening to a live brass band entertainment.

There will be exclusive offers on the night, with the opportunity to create an unlimited amount of hamper gifts with the free-of-charge wrapping service.

30th November | Winter Market at Rosemains Steading

📍 Pathhead, Midlothian

Join Rosemains Steading for a fantastic family day out at the Steading, featuring talented artisans, creators, and independent businesses from the Lothians. 1st December | Christmas Fair at Glen Tanar

📍 Aboyne, Aberdeenshire

Glen Tanar’s Annual Christmas Fair is back on Sunday, 1st December. The ballroom will look very festive as always, complete with a magnificent open fire and a towering Noble Fir Christmas Tree.

There will be the usual selection of fresh Christmas trees from the Seedbox, a variety of unique market stalls, mouthwatering food & drinks, and a wreath-making workshop with Emily from Fìor!

This year, treat your little ones to a magical experience with our Santa Letter Drop! Stroll together through the enchanting ballroom gardens to a hidden spot where they can post their letter to Santa … and even receive a reply from the man himself!

6th - 8th December | Christmas Fair at Fyvie Castle

📍 Fyvie, Aberdeenshire

Head to Fyvie Castle to see the full castle decorated in festive splendour, with an incredible lineup of local makers and artists showcasing their work in all the rooms.

Featuring a variety of musicians in the Gallery, bringing the castle to life.

Santa will also visit us. Find him in the Billiards Room, where you will receive a unique Christmas gift. Tickets to meet Santa can be found on Eventbrite.

 

7th & 8th December | FESTIVE FAYRE with Slow Living Scotland

📍 Banchory, Aberdeenshire

I’m super excited to bring you weekend filled with traditional artisans, natural products, and some delicious festive treats. It’s the perfect opportunity to support local makers and get into the Christmas spirit!

7th December | Advent Fair Newton Dee Camphill

📍Bieldside, Aberdeen

Newton Dee Advent Fair is happening again!

You will be able to purchase beautifully hand made crafts from the workshops in Newton Dee Camphill and other local initiatives and artist.

Of course you can enjoy cakes and hot drinks in the Newton Dee Cafe and browse the exclusive Christmas range in the Newton Dee Store (10-5pm)

Please consider sustainable transport via the buses First 19 and Stagecoach 201&202 (Stop Prospecthill or Dalmunzie Rd) or via the Old Railway Line - such a beautiful walk, if it isn’t too icy of course.

 

12th - 15th December | Winter Store at Guardswell Farm

📍 Inchture, Perthshire

Winter Store. 5-8th, 12-15th and 19-22nd December, 11am-6pm. 

Beautiful + considered gifts, incredible Scottish Makers, festive treats to eat at home and on the farm, cosy mulled apple juice, a roaring fire, a little collection of our favourite drinks for you to enjoy over the festive period, our old record playing… we can’t quite describe how wintery and festive it is, but we’d love to welcome you to the farm for it.

 

13th - 15th December | Christmas Market at Bowhouse & Tea Green Events

📍 Anstruther, Fife

This year, Bowhouse are extending their Christmas Market by an extra day! For the first time, they are having a LATE NIGHT opening on a Friday for shopping, music, food and drinks!

Join in with the festivities, get all your shopping under one roof and support small, local businesses. 

Friday 13th December - Night Market | 2pm - 8pm

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th December | 10am - 4pm

 

Of course, we are a tad biased and thoroughly recommend you visit our FESTIVE FAYRE on the 7th and 8th of December! We’re back at @miltonofcrathes, this time in the cosy old sawmill.

We’ll have lots of local artisans to shop from, all specialising in sustainable, natural products created using traditional skills - some of which we’ve seen being used in our country for decades.
